Good reel the only thing I would like to see improved is the line spool needs some type of braid retention system. I used elllectical tape as base and my braid over and it doesn't slip but you have to use some kind of backer.Nothing but high marks for this reel. Decent drag, good capacity, comfortable handle. Used in the Great Lakes for salmon and lake trout.Been using these several months trolling for striped bass. They work well and the line counters are great, BUT, be aware I had the single nut which holds the handle and drag wheel pop off while trolling, resulting in both the handle and drag wheel going swimming, permanently. Poor design there. The nut only turns about 3 times, so if it comes loose, you will have close to zero notice and may lose your handle. Recommend putting lock tite or similar on it (I will be doing so with my others). For those that care, Fiblink makes a 5.5ft stiff trolling rod which matches these reels perfectly. Additionally, these reels are manufactured in China, not Japan, which the brand name (a Japanese city) would lead you to believe.I loaded up the reel with 20lb test and mounted it to my salmon rod, worked great downrigger fishing. The drag clicks, and has good adjustability, nice finishes and feels sturdy. These reels hold up very well to the wear & tear of pulling musky lures day to day. They also require very little maintenanceI put 20lb copper wire on it and it works great. Zero complaints and zero issues. Very smooth, easy to use reel. Highly recommend-Heavy duty-Easy to use-Line counter works well-Drag is easy to adjustI have already have caught dozens of fish in saltwater over past two months and ordered a second reel from my wife.I Love My Okuma 303 line counter trolling Reel. I Using 40lbs Braid Line.Richie SoteloSharp reel feels quite solid and looks good while doing it I think this reel will land some big cod and maybe a few sea trout as well, had a little shipping error took a little long but nothing amazon dident handle well took a few pics as well cause there’s not many online I found while rGreat 303d for Great Lakes salmon on downrigger rods. They hold 200 feet of 50lb braid and 800 ft of 30lb mono (1000feet). I’ve caught hundreds of salmon 1-30lbs and the drag is great. Line counters amazing. Price can’t be beat. Love the oversized handles and wide reeling motion/action of the handle. Saves my tennis elbow from getting worseI haven't actually tried the reels yet, but I did look at one at SAIL up close and held it in my hands. It seems very well made. The clicker is super loud, which i like when I am trolling with downriggers. You would have to be deaf to not be able to hear the drag going off. It is a great deal on Amazon....$60 cheaper than at SAIL. I saved enough on two so that the 3rd one was like it was free.....which i told my wife so I could convince her to allow me to buy three of them, instead of just the two I told her i was planning on buying. Hey, whatever works, right? But seriously, you can't go wrong for the price. Good deal for sure.I love the look of the reel and the counter is helpful but simple things like the drag is useless! You have to have the resistance level completely backed off just so the spool will release. Then when you have a fish on you have to, VERY quickly crank it tight before you can start reeling in. I was considering returning it but ended up living with the inconvenience.I use only Okuma Coldwater reels now on my boat; all 24 of my reels catch thousands of pounds of salmon each seasons. I use the CW203D on my Downrigger rods, the CW303D on my Dipsy Rods, the CW453D on my copper rods up to 250FT and CW553LS for coppers below 250Ft to 400FT.Excellent product!!! No reel has ever failed!!! The drag is perfect « click by click », the clicker is loud and much appreciate by my clients!!!!
